One tremendously empowering fact

Author: Matt Anderson, The Referral Authority

This week I’m going with the ‘less is more’ philosophy to emphasize one fabulous reason you want to aim higher in life and have at least one ‘unrealistic’ goal. And now more than ever is a time to take more action when most other people are retreating into caves.

While reading Tim Ferriss’ The 4-Hour Workweek, he points out that 99% of people in the world are convinced they are incapable of achieving great things, so they aim for the mediocre. The level of competition is thus fiercest for “realistic” goals.” He says fish where the fewest people go because there is less competition.

He argues that we are all insecure. I repeat: we are all insecure. As a result we tend to underestimate ourselves due to lack of belief and figure (often incorrectly) that only super-people can achieve the big stuff. But flip this around and use this knowledge to empower yourself and say: well, hang on, if everyone has doubts, then what if I decide to be bolder – very bold even?

It’s rather like networking events. Most people are uncomfortable at them so why not take advantage of that and decide to be bold and actually enjoy yourself! It’s sort of like: you know something they don’t know.

“If you are insecure, guess what? The rest of the world is, too.”

Secondly, having a whopper of a goal also gets the adrenaline to kick in and have you think more creatively and think bigger than you are right now. The more excited you are about something, the more action you will take.

That’s it: while everyone else is filling their minds with self-doubt, march out there and do it. Let everyone else make up the 99%.

Who else would enjoy reading this? Please forward it on and share the wealth.
